Operation good hope cleans uMlazi

The Operation Good Hope team cleared an illegal dumpsite on Sibusiso Mdakane Road in uMlazi G-Section.

ETHEKWINI Municipality is moving with speed to address service delivery challenges. Areas including uMlazi F, G, H and C sections were visited recently where service delivery challenges were tackled in a multi-disciplinary format. The objective of Operation Good Hope (OGH) is to fast-track service delivery challenges. Service delivery issues that were addressed in the uMlazi sections visited were the issue of vagrants, bylaw enforcement, conducting building inspections, fixing leaking water pipes, removing illegal electricity connections, road markings, waste collection, and repairing streetlights.

Project Manager from the Area Based Management Unit Thobile Ngcobo said her unit is working hard to coordinate OGH in various parts of the Municipality. “We won’t allow service delivery to suffer in any community. Educating the public on issues of cleanliness, health protocols,
waste management, health issues and environmental issues, and business compliance is conducted daily,” she said. “We are accelerating
service delivery programmes focused on integrated and multidisciplinary operations that have a direct and immediate impact on the
quality of lives of residents in different wards,” said Ngcobo. She urged residents to report service delivery issues in their areas. “We enforce business compliance of the City’s bylaws to protect residents from buying rotten food and fake or stolen goods.”
