EThekwini Municipality delivers houses and changes lives

There was jubilation as Councillor Siyabonga Mfeka handed over two houses to residents of Ward 55, Newtown B in Inanda. Ntombenhle Zulu was one the beneficiaries. She described the day as a dream come true.

TWO housing recipients could not contain their joy when they received the keys to their new homes from Ward 55 Councillor Siyabonga Mfeka. Ntombenhle Zulu and Sifiso Molefi said it was a dream come true to have a home to call their own. The houses were built under the R293 Housing Project. During the house handover, Councillor Mfeka thanked the beneficiaries and other residents for being patient while the houses were under construction. “The project had several challenges which have since been resolved.

The contractor is working hard to complete more houses. However, more budget needs to be allocated to build additional houses to meet the demand,” said Councillor Mfeka. Zulu was emotional when she received the keys to her new house. “God is great. I cannot believe that this beautiful house is mine. I have been living in an old house, and I never thought this would be me. But my tears have been wiped away and I am so happy!” said an elated Zulu. The other beneficiary Molefi thanked all stakeholders involved in the project. “This house belongs to my family. It is large enough to accommodate us all. Please continue with this good work which is changing lives and may God bless our Councillor for the work he is doing in the community,” he said. “I am so happy to have a home to call my own.”
