Durban Tourism flies the City’s flag in Swaziland

Durban is the place to be this winter. To promote this message, Durban Tourism kick-started its marketing campaign in Swaziland to position the City as a preferred tourist destination.

The Durban Tourism team took the City’s attractions such as the Ricksha bus and Rickshaw pullers to Eswatini from 26 to 30 May to offer the people there an opportunity to experience some of Durban’s unforgettable experiences.

These activations aim is to sustain Durban’s brand presence in key source markets.

The team visited several places in Swaziland where they conducted activations promoting the City and its tourism product packages. This included the 2022 Bushfire Festival in Malkerns Valley, Mbabane, eZulwini, and a parade through the streets of Manzini to name a few.

Winile Mntungwa, Deputy Head of Durban Tourism said they received a warm welcome in Eswatini with the activations being a resounding success.

“We received so much coverage from both print and broadcast media from the day we arrived. We were welcomed by the Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs Moses Vilakati. It was a great honour and a sign that the working relationship we are building will work. Part of the activations was to strengthen ties.”

Mntungwa said the activation serves as a build-up to the launch of a direct flight between Durban and Royal Eswatini.

Royal Eswatini Air will be flying to King Shaka International Airport from Mondays to Saturdays. This will contribute to the sector’s sustainable recovery. EThekwini continues to work with the region’s route development committee to attract more international flights and to enhance intra-Africa trade.
